Under the general direction of the Clinical Supervisor, the Licensed Vocational Nurse assists in the nursing process by instructing patients and care givers in self care and providing basic nursing care as needed. 

Education:
Graduate from an accredited vocational school of nursing or equivalent.

You are looking for a part time/full time position where you can help people. We are a Surgical Center and medical group with focus on Pain Management and Orthopedic medicine.

As a Lead Clinical Nurse you are responsible for supervising and directing nursing care in all clinical areas of the facility according to its policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives. Assists the RN and physician in providing pre- and postoperative care to patients. Coordinates and directs patient care and related activities of the facility according to accepted standards. Shares responsibility for the fiscal activities of the clinical services. Oversees patient scheduling in all clinical areas. Analyzes and evaluates nursing care to improve quality of care given. Works closely with administrative and medical staff in coordinating patient-care service functions. May assume Responsibilities for administrator in his or her absence.

DUTIES

Assists the RN and physician in providing pre- and postoperative care to the patient.

Confirms preoperative testing/medical clearance is in patient’s medical chart prior to procedure.

Collaborates with RN in assessing the patient’s physical and emotional status.

Implements and documents preoperative regimen of care according to policy/procedure.

Recognizes patient’s need for support, answers questions appropriately, and provides for privacy and confidentiality.

Assists in the admission of patients to pre/postoperative area according to established guidelines.

Implements appropriate nursing activities to provide safe and individualized nursing care.

Evaluates effectiveness of nursing care by documenting patient’s responses to interventions.

Assists in explaining the physician’s postoperative instructions to patient/family.

Conveys ideas, concepts, and facts related to patient care in a logical, concise manner.

Assists with discharge activities according to policies and procedures.

Documents records and other forms accurately and according to policies and procedures.

Applies technical and specialized skills relevant to pre/postoperative nursing.

Performs nursing functions (e.g., monitors vital signs, maintains/improves respiratory function, performs catheterizations, etc.) under RN direction/supervision.

Administers prescribed medication and performs treatments according to the state’s definition of LPN practice.

Observes safety measures in patient-care activities

Prepares equipment/supplies needed for care of patients and for performing diagnostic tests.

Performs with competence in emergency situations

Recognizes personal limitations and obtains necessary patient-care assistance from RN.

Displays knowledge of the requirements for instrument, supply, and equipment maintenance.

Cleans instruments properly after use and observes policy and procedure for proper care and handling. Observes and reports need to replenish or revise supply inventories.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

High school graduate or GED certificate recipient

Graduate of accredited school of nursing

RN with active license in appropriate state

CPR certification

Healthcare-management experience

Evidence of leadership qualities

Strong ethical and moral character references

Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English

Preferred

ACLS certification

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing

ASC experience

Computer literacy

OR

Completion of and certification in accredited LPN program

LPN with active license in appropriate state

CPR certification

Evidence of leadership qualities. Strong ethical and moral character references

Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal and telephone communication in American English
