What is Habilitation?
Habilitation is self help skills taught in steps to develop more independence and confidence. Habilitation includes a variety of methods such as: special development skills, behavior intervention, sensory and motor development skills, which are all designed to maximize the functioning of persons with developmental disabilities.
Why do we provide Habilitation?
People with various degrees of learning challenges can learn to be more independent with the help of good teaching strategies. All in The Family’s habilitation activities focus on daily skills, positive behavior supports and communication. Persons receiving supports are able to enhance their quality of life through greater self-sufficiency, choices, and increased control of their lives to the best of their abilities
What is Respite?
This service provides short-term care and supervision in accordance with the persons Individual Support Plan. The goal of the service is to provide a Break for the caregiver. This service can be provided in the person’s or the providers home.
Providing for the social, emotional and physical needs of the person
Ensuring medication is taken as prescribed
Providing appropriate first aid or attention to an illness or injury
Following the persons Individual Support Plan
What is Attendant Care?
This service provides necessary support in order for the person to remain in his/her own home and/or participate in work or community activities. The goals of the service include assisting the person to have a safe and clean home, stay healthy and clean and have good meals. This support may occur in the persons home or in the community. Based on the persons specific needs, as identified through the individual support plan process, some of the tasks related to attendant care may include:
Bathing & Hair Washing Eating and meal preparation
Tooth Brushing Transferring to or from a wheelchair
Using the toilet Planning and shopping for meals
Dressing Participating in community activities
REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT
All persons wishing to provide habilitation or respite services as employees of All in the Family must satisfy state mandated minimum requirements relating to the service class applied for in order to be eligible for employment consideration. These minimum requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Three non-relation references;
2. Fingerprint clearance;
3. Evidence of Article 9 proficiency
4. Evidence of current CPR and first aid certification;
Evidence of basic consumer orientation and documentation proficiency; and (additional material is included in each employees orientation material);
Consumer intervention techniques training, but only if such training is either specified in the Individual Service Program Plan (ISPP) or requested by the parent or guardian of the child for whom services will be provided.
We are willing to train and certify all new employees.
