Job Summary:
The Assistant Nurse Manager uses leadership skills to manage the patient/family experience, the daily operation of the unit, and staff/human resource aspects through the utilization of critical thinking , teamwork, effective communication, nursing judgment/knowledge/skills according to facility’s policies and standards.
 
Job Responsibilities:
Quality- Oversees daily operations and staff performance to ensure optimal care to patients’ and family which is collaborative, evidence based and meets national/facility standards to achieve the best possible outcome. Collaborates with unit director to assess, plan, and evaluate unit trends. Service-Oversees daily operations and staff performance to ensure care for patient/family is provided according to the Sutter Difference standards and activities ensuring the best patient/family experience. Collaborates with unit director to assess, plan, and evaluate patient experience trends. Growth-Actively participates and mentors staff in the management of patient/family plan of care throughout the hospitalization to achieve optimal transition and progression toward discharge. Manages resources and demands to achieve optimal patient flow throughout the shift. People-Oversees the coordination of the activities of the health care team in a professional manner according to facility standards promoting a positive work environment. Serves as role model for the health care team. Finance-Ensures utilization of resources to deliver quality care in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. Community- Promotes a positive relationship between Sutter Health and the community. Ensures a positive learning experience for health care students on the unit.
 
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BS preferred.
 

Required Experience:
2 years acute care experience-preferred in area of specialty or according to regulatory standards; leadership experience-preferred.
 
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Current licensure California RN ; BLS -Health Care Provider; national certification in area of population specialty required within 1 year of role.
 
Complexity of Work:
Uses leadership and supervisory skills to oversee the patient/family experience, independently leads the practice and prioritization of multiple demands in a ever-changing environment. Must have demonstrated expert nursing skills as well as effective verbal and written communication skills.
 
Knowledge:
Must possess basic computer knowledge and skills.
